What is Breast Augmentation?

Breast augmentation is a technique designed to enhance your breasts with implants, creating a natural profile that expands and lifts at the same time.

People often confuse Breast Augmentation with breast implant. The breast implant is the synthetic part, which is used to improve the shape of breasts. Breast Augmentation is a surgical process using breast implants which are inserted into the body to enhance the size and shape of the breasts. With the effects of aging, gravity, pregnancy, etc. women go through a lot of changes in their breast’s shape and size throughout their lifetime. Breast augmentation was developed in order to repair or enhance the shape and size of your breasts.

Here are some of the reasons why a person should consider Breast Augmentation:

  • Loss of Shape After Childbirth: In order to get the original shape of the breasts back with a natural profile.
  • Uneven Breasts: Your breasts do not look identical in shape, size, or orientation.
  • Disproportion: If your breasts are too big or too small for your body frame.

Is breast augmentation right for me?

If you are facing any of the below-listed problems and want to get them corrected then yes breast augmentation is right for you.

  • Dissatisfied with the shape or size of your breasts
  • Sagging or deformed or deflated breasts after childbirth.
  • Uneven breasts.
  • Disproportionate breasts.

What happens during Breast Augmentation?

People are often cautious of breast augmentation because they are not aware of what the procedure entails. This procedure has been performed safely countless times by Board-Certified surgeons, Dr. Patel and Dr. Truong, here at Lift Plastic Surgery. The surgical procedure is simple:

The process involves the surgeon creating a pocket in the area where an incision was made. Once the pouch is created, the implants then get inserted through the opening. After the implants are inserted, the doctor will sit you up during surgery so they can check to ensure implants are looking symmetrical and even. When complete the surgeon will close the incision. After that, you are provided with a soft surgical bra of the perfect fit for your breast shape and size.

What is the recovery period after breast augmentation surgery?

You’re able to shower the day after your surgery, but must continue to wear a soft supportive bra without underwire at all other times for the first month following surgery. You will be able to speed up the recovery period with the help of these tips:

  • Always sleep upright and do not put force on your breasts after the surgery for at least 48 hours.
  • Avoid wearing clothes that are tight around the breast area. These clothes will put force on your breasts and can lead to swelling and pain.
  • Do not do any heavy lifting or strenuous activities for at least 4 to 6 weeks.
  • Avoid lifting weights for at least eight weeks.
  • After four weeks, you can change to a normal bra as long as your incisions are well healed.

When will I see results after my breast augmentation?

Immediately after surgery, your breast implants generally appear “high and tight.” This is because your tissues, especially the pectoralis muscle, need to stretch to accommodate the new implant. In one to three months, your shape rounds out as the swelling goes down and your implants drop and settle.
